MUSEUM OF FLIGHT HOSTS FLYING WOMEN OF WWII
CELEBRATE WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH WITH THE WASPS
Dateline -- [SEATTLE, WASHINGTON] On Saturday, March 13, 1999, the
Museum of Flight will salute Women's History Month by hosting a day-long program, The
Flying women of World War II, popularly known as WASPs or Women Airforce Service
Pilots. At 2:00 p.m. in the Museum's William M. Allen Theater, several WASPs will
talk about their experiences during and after the war. In addition to the panel
discussion, the Museum will offer a demonstration of a primary flight trainer built by a
group of local Girl Scouts, and a short film about the WASPs will be shown in the theater.
Weather permitting, planes like those flown by the WASPs will be on static display,
including the Museum's Boeing B-17F, a Piper Cub, a Stearman Kaydet, a North American T-6
Texas, and a Fairchild PT-26 Cornell.

The Flying Women of World War II program is free with Museum admission.
The Museum of Flight, at 9404 East Marginal Way South, is open daily from 10:00a.m. to
5:00p.m., and until 9:00p.m Thursdays. Admission is $8 for adults, $4 for youths ages
5-17, and free for children under age 5 and Museum members.
